Emma Roberts Reflects on Body Hair, Beauty Standards, and Motherhood
Emma Roberts, renowned for her roles in American Horror Story and Scream Queens, recently sat down with InStyle for an intimate chat on beauty standards, her personal journey with body hair, and the challenges and changes of motherhood.
Journey Beyond the Unibrow
Emma’s journey to self-acceptance began during her childhood. “The first thing I remember about my brows… was that I was in school and this kid told me I had a unibrow,” Roberts recalled. It was this memory that opened her eyes to society’s preconceived standards of beauty. “That was when I started to become aware that, ‘Wait, you’re supposed to get your eyebrows done? What do you mean?’ I couldn’t have been more than 6 or 7,” she explained.
The teasing proved to be a pivotal moment for young Emma. But as the years passed, she began embracing her natural beauty. “It’s just so funny because when you’re in the moment of a trend with brows or hair, you never know you’re in the trend until you’re out of it,” she mused. Emphasizing the importance of personal comfort over societal pressure, she added, “But my brows have really gone on a journey with me.” Now, Roberts opts for a minimalistic approach, letting her brows be and focusing on simple maintenance.
Beauty Hacks for Busy Moms
Motherhood, unsurprisingly, has had an immense impact on Emma’s beauty regimen. As the mother of Rhodes Robert, aged 2, her morning routines have seen a significant change. “In the morning, sometimes there is no routine at this point,” Roberts admitted. “It’s about being quicker.”
However, the ever-adaptive actress has discovered a few hacks to keep looking stylish amidst the chaos of motherhood. “I just try to keep everything pretty simple,” she said, providing insight into her quick style tips. “I noticed that you can immediately transform a casual outfit into a not-so-casual outfit with a pair of hoop earrings. That’s a good mom hack, hoop earrings and a red lip and it looks like you really tried.”
Emma Roberts has continually evolved, both as an actress and a person. From embracing her natural beauty to adapting her style for motherhood, she proves that personal comfort and authenticity are the key. Whether it’s learning to love one’s unibrow or finding beauty hacks for hectic mornings, Roberts’s journey is a testament to the ever-changing nature of beauty standards and the importance of self-acceptance.
