Betty, the eldest of the six, passed away at the age of 64 from emphysema. Similarly, Jack, her older brother, who worked at the ranch training horses and blacksmithing, died tragically while galloping his horse on Hurricane Mills land. While riding his horse across the Duck River, he drowned and perished.
