Tim Duncan and David Robinson’s record
Currently, Tim Duncan is the last player who made the All-NBA Team as a rookie in the 1997-98 season. David Robinson was the previous record holder who made it in the 1989-90 season. All eyes are on Victor Wembanyama as he is believed to do so.
Victor Wembanyama’s promising performance
The 19-year-old Victor impressed everyone in his fifth NBA game, where he scored 38 points and led his team to win against the Phoenix Suns. In the same match, an incident happened between Devin Booker and Jeremy Sochan where Devin trash-talked but later on ended up on the losing side since Victor outshined everyone. People are also comparing him to Kevin Durant, but Kevin himself turned down the comparison and appreciated Victor’s game and loved his enthusiasm.
“His enthusiasm for the game – you can tell that through the TV and playing against him, He’s his own player, own person. He’s going to create his own lane and is much different than anyone else who has played.” Kevin Durant said
The fact that Tim and David both played for San Antonio Spurs in their rookie season and made the All-NBA Team strengthens the belief that Victor Wembanyama also might succeed in doing that since he is playing for the same team. So far, Victor has been in great form and has played a key role for his team. It will be quite interesting to see if he maintains the same form in the upcoming matches, too.
